UC Merced and The Center for Humanities, in cooperation with UCM’s Global Arts, Media, and Writing Studies, is pleased to announce Merced’s 2024 LitFest, a writing festival featuring a wide range of literary artists, held from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on Saturday, September 14th in Downtown Merced.
Merced’s inaugural LitFest will offer interpretations on the theme "We Are California," inspired by California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick’s Our California project. Listeners will be able to attend readings throughout the afternoon, all in downtown businesses, to hear poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction writers read their original works. No tickets are needed. Just show up to support local talent!
Free to the public and open to all ages, Merced LitFest will host 14 literary events in 5 different Downtown Merced locations. Unfortunately, our keynote reading with award-winning and best-selling author, Dorothy Allison has been canceled due to circumstances beyond our control.
