Community/Public Writing Initiatives; Writing Assessment; Advanced Composition
With a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester (2003), Anne joined UC Merced when campus opened in 2005 as a founding lecturer in the writing program. During that time, she had a joint appointment in the Center for Teaching and Learning, with a focus on program assessment and graduate education. In 2012, she joined the Senate faculty as a teaching professor in Writing Studies and co-directed the Merritt Writing Program until 2016. As part of service and leadership positions, Anne coordinated UC Merced's first program review of general education and chaired the systemwide UC educational policy committee. In 2018, she was awarded to Dr. Fred Spiess Distinguished Service for contributions towards shared governance. Currently, she is a lead on grant projects for community-engaged research in the humanities as well as campus' degree completion program. Her research and service record focuses on educational policy, writing assessment, public/community writing, and advanced writing experiences in majors and post-graduation. Anne's teaching experience has been in first-year composition, advanced composition, science writing, and pedagogy.
