Merced LitFest

UC Merced and The Center for Humanities, in cooperation with UCM’s Global Arts, Media, and Writing Studies, is pleased to announce Merced’s 2024 LitFest, a writing festival featuring a wide range of literary artists, held from 12:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, September 14th in Downtown Merced.

Merced’s inaugural LitFest will offer interpretations on the theme "We Are California," inspired by California Poet Laureate Lee Herrick’s Our California project. Listeners will be able to attend readings throughout the afternoon, all in downtown businesses, to hear poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction writers read their original works. No tickets are needed. Just show up to support local talent!

Free to the public and open to all ages, Merced LitFest will conclude with a keynote reader, to be announced at a later date.

A schedule of readers, along with locations and times of readings, will be posted in early July. Look for upcoming information on Instagram, Facebook, and at downtown businesses.

If you are a writer interested in reading at Merced LitFest, submit your group proposal by June 1st, 2024 here: https://forms.office.com/r/p1QUYyiUUJ.  For more about proposal submissions, see our Proposal Guidelines page.

For more information, email Sam Ocena at socena@ucmerced.edu or call/text Brigitte Bowers at 209 617 0284.

We look forward to seeing you at Merced LitFest 2024!
